The Marvelettes – Please Mr. Postman (Borgore and Luke & Skywalker Remix)

So… word has it that this is an official dubstep remix of The Marvelettes‘ 1961 R&B smash Mr Postman. Not 100% confirmed that Motown actually had a hand in contracting Cragga and Luke Skywalker to rub the wub over the label’s first ever #1 hit, but I can confirm that this track exists, that it really heats up past the 2 minute mark, and that there is a stream of it right here.

Immediately following this track on Soundcloud was the original Mt Eden track that QuESt demolished a few years back. I take that as a good omen.

Maryann x N8 the Gr8 – Nothing You Could Say (Video)

Maryann continues to evolve her sound, and we’ve got her showing off her versatility, continuing her futuristic movement, and going out for her paper with her latest EDM/rap/R&B chimeric slow-burner “Nothing You Could Say“.

That darkhearted screw-trap instrumental comes courtesy of N8 the Gr8. Watch the video and stream the audio below:

Maryann dropped a full R&B LP just last year with “Timing Is Everything”, and now this freshly hybridised style is getting it’s own longplayer in the upcoming “Futuristic Always“, including features from Devin the Dude, Guilty Simpson, and Chuuwee. It’s sure to be big.

Bonus: Incase you’re wondering what that voice sounds like when it’s not being generally threatening, Slow Motion should provide some perspective on Maryann’s R&B pedigree.

This is a hit of the purest, self-dubbed bedroom trap that the Maryann x N8 the Gr8 collab has put out yet.

Cayso – That Feel Good Sh*t (Prod. AltAir)

Cayso’s done it again, hooking up with AltAir once more to drop some more of that… well, some more of that feel good sh*t. It’s an appropriately titled track that see’s Cayso spitting his ass off over some soft shuffle soul sampling from AltAir.

The beat is tight, the wordplay is thorough, and the morale of the story is one we can definitely get behind. That morale? Cheer the f*ck up, it’s not that serious!

Grab yourself a name-your-price download of Feel Good Sh*t over at Cayso’s Bandcamp.

E.M.M.A – Jahovia (ft. Rebel MC) x Kingfisher

E.M.M.A came correct on Keysound’s “This is how we roll” compilation earlier this year, and now the Merseyside-transplant’s Keysound work has been fully  unleashed unto the world. Her first (and Keysound’s first 7″ ) drop is this stunning peach-scented, ragga-flavoured transmission, featuring the legendary Rebel MC; this is Jahovia.

This one’s been getting spins for a minute, but it’s out today on Keystone so go grab yourself a 7″ or a digital download! You’ll also be treated to the dub rework on the flipside, wherein E.M.M.A is joined by Wil LV to tighten, darken, and bubble things down.

To celebrate the release, E.M.M.A has also let loose this free, funky, fat-bottomed bonus cut; Kingfisher.

E.M.M.A’s debut longplayer “Blue Gardens” is due to touchdown on July 29th. Citing such influences as “Coney Island, Delia Derbyshire, Baroque tonality, “Victorian grime,” Microsoft’s forgotten Encarta ‘96 encyclopaedia, Rebel MC and alternative time signatures”.

It all makes sense in the context of a girl who rolled to Big Pun and Fabolous until Skream’s “Midnight Request Line” blew the bloody doors off, figuratively speaking, and she set out on a quest to bring some added melody into the world of EDM… which is pretty much perfect for this blog, so… safe.

Expect a full review of “Blue Gardens” closer to the street date, for now enjoy the cuts up top.
